Yoga for kids is a mind-body complementary and alternative practice to improve physical and mental health conditions. Yoga works holistically, offering children a strong and healthy body, concentration and self-discipline while boosting self-esteem and relaxing from tension or overstimulation by means of proper breathing and special body poses (asanas).

Children are the ultimate "yogis", as they are born with the ability to breathe deeply, have the right body posture and prove open-minded towards life. Yoga helps considerably with kid life, as children learn how to calm themselves down and build confidence. If kids can learn some of the benefits of yoga from an early age, we’d all have an amazing future world!

The young dancers do their exercises in a circle learning how to use the space and dance in groups. Gradually, they learn the positions and do exercises on the floor that help them understand how to use their body parts creatively, in their own way.

Kessaris ballet class takes place in a suitably designed room on our school premises and follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) method. This training system is taught in more than 80 countries and has 13,000 members worldwide. At the same time, children have the opportunity to take part in exams exclusively administrated by the British Council in Greece.

Described as “Kessaris most innovative programme,” the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts) Academy gives school students a learning experience unlike any other while engaging them with real world science and futuristic technology.

STEAM Academy is a school for future inventors and entrepreneurs. Every year, we host a number of missions inviting students to choose from challenges to complete as scientists, engineers, artists, digital makers and entrepreneurs. Kessaris students serving as peer instructors learn ‘elbow to elbow’ with their teachers in a specially designed course focused on school readiness skills and problem-based learning.

Since 2015, Kessaris STEAM Team has been participating in FLL Research and Robotics Championships, both at a national and international level, presenting original projects and thus gaining distinctions, awards and prizes.
In the years 2017 and 2018, Kessaris STEAM Team excelled at the Lego World Competitions held in Athens and took part in the Tournaments held in St. Louis and Detroit, U.S.A.

The aim of Kessaris Drama club “Kivotos Oneiron” is to familiarize students with the process of producing a theatrical work (acting, directing, creating scenery, costumes, music, lighting), cooperation in a team and the dedication required of everyone to a common goal. Members of the Club develop their skills, take initiative, gain self-confidence, share in the significant experience of presenting a complete performance in front of an audience and, most importantly, broaden their knowledge of the theater while, at the same time, they become more artistically aware.

Kessaris Drama Club uses Stanislavski’s Method whose principles of directing and collective theories on acting were very influential in the late nineteenth century and are still used by actors and directors today.

Stanislavski and Nemirovish-Danchenko were the founders of Moscow Music Theatre, one of the most popular theatres in the world that mainly organizes contemporary productions.

In this Club, students practice constructing sound and well-argued arguments for or against a position, learn to be active listeners and think logically, discover wrong or weak arguments, become aware of social problems, and finally develop a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.

Students acquire the ability to use speech as a means of persuasion, build a good case on a controversial topic and support their personal views. Also, they manage to overcome the all-too-common fear of speaking in public so that they can deliver crisp and well-prepared speeches.

Skill in public speaking, which is cultivated through systematic practice and preparation for competitions, (Impromptu Speaking and Debate) is essential for the participation in debate tournaments that take place in Greece annually.

Students are taught classical piano in a familiar environment by an experienced teacher. Depending on their piano skill level, children get to know the keyboard with notes, half steps and note values. They also learn to play with melody, play pause etc. In due course, they will be able to perform well-known classical and art songs, in order to develop their piano technique.

Our goal is to make students love music and express their thoughts and feelings while playing popular pieces on the piano.

While staying at school, children have the option to attend French, Spanish or German under the guidance of experienced foreign language teachers.
Group sizes are kept small in order to help students take language exams and are modified according to the student’s linguistic ability.

  • Choir

    parents

Singing in choir provides a sense of real belonging, offers new opportunities for learning, encourages student engagement and promotes civic involvement. Also, it improves the way children listen to music, it draws out their innate musical ability and intensifies their appreciation of harmony.

The school-based choral programme includes song analysis, diaphragmatic breathing exercises and other techniques that improve vocal range and abilities. At the same time, students are taught music theory, solfège (a music education method used to teach aural skills, pitch and sight-reading of Western music) and polyphony (the simultaneous combination of tones or melodic lines).

For a positive emotional experience, energy and relaxation, singing together is good for kids' wellbeing. Choir singing appears to be achieving calming effects in a similar way that breathing and posture exercises in yoga do.
